My Journey
I was part of the team to setup and launch the 1st Ecommerce platform in India. We started with books and music as the categories and then added gifting, electronics, fashion and household articles. Pioneered the whole logistics process and created new methodology for delivery and handling returns. Aligned with ICICI Bank to help them create the first Online Payment Gateway ( Payseal ) . Developed and launched cash-on-delivery (COD) for the 1st time in India.
My role involved building all the alignments and partnerships with the Merchants, Banks, Technology providers and Logistics companies. Reported and worked closely with Mr. Ajit Balakrishnan, the Founder & CEO of Rediff.com.
Rediffmail.com: helped build awareness with the corporates, mainly the Insurance companies, to create an enterprise solution with rediffmail as base solution.
Key areas worked on: Evangelizing the whole new concept of internet, ecommerce, enterprise email : The importance of an effective web page : The whole new concept of page views and click throughs : Partnering with Banks to create the 1st payment gateway : Tying up with Logistics players : Convincing and getting Merchants to sign in : pioneering the concept of cash on delivery, COD.
Onmobile is an Infosys incubated company and leaders in the Mobile VAS space. Was part of the team to launch the 1st mobile commerce initiative in India.
We initially started with creating a mcommerce platform and then had it integrated to the Airtel network. This was essentially enabling Airtel subscribers in Bangalore to buy PVR movie tickets through their mobile phone ( pre smartphone days !! ) . It was an innovative project connecting the various Payment Options and Gateways to the platform and enabling payments using credit card and debit cards. Yet another 1st in the industry, creating quite a buzz in the industry.
A leading mobile payments technology company. I was part of their India startup team to launch mobile based payment solutions in India. They have a robust platform, providing solutions in mobile banking, mobile payments, mobile wallets. In India the timing was just perfect since the RBI came out with the Mobile Banking guidelines in 2008, followed by the Prepaid Paid Instruments and other solutions. Helped launch the 1st bank linked mobile payment solution partnering with Union Bank of India, Yes Bank Limited and Fino Banking Correspondence solutions.
Nokia Financial Services : (2010 - 2012). Was part of the team which helped Nokia launch the 1st Mobile Wallet solution in India, aligning with Yes Bank Ltd. and Union Bank of India... (please note, still in the pre smartphone days!!) My role included building all the required ecosystem relationships like those with banks, telecom operators, services aggregators, merchants like Meru and Easycabs AND ecommerce players. Nokia became the fastest growing mobile payments company, adding 1.2 million subscribers within our 1st year of operations.

I am in the board of this company and help them in the business expansion plans. Health5C provides a robust technical platform focusing on the “wellness” aspect of healthcare. This wellness interface is relevant to healthcare providers including doctors, hospitals, clinics, health insurance.
I am advising this startup venture on market expansion and technology implementation. ETM ePay is into e distribution of FMCG products, with an entirely different approach. The focus here is in building a robust distribution platform with a convenient mobile app and separate solutions for Distributors, Retailers, and other stakeholders in the chain.
